Trikut mishap: Jharkhand tourism board lobs ball to law department

The Jharkhand State Tourism Development Corporation Board is seeking the opinion of the state law department on imposing a ₹9 crore fine and blacklisting Damodar Ropeways and Infra Limited, the operator of the Trikut Ropeway, following a fatal mid-air ropeway accident. The board is also planning to reopen the ropeway after conducting a safety audit. The company has a history of ropeway accidents in other locations.

Railways cancels 66 trains ahead of festive season in Jharkhand

66 trains have been cancelled, five diverted, and two short-terminated/originated due to the non-interlocking (NI) developmental works at different locations, mainly in the Bilaspur division and only Rourkela in the Chakradharpur division for the period between September 28 and October 16.

Soren writes to PM for recognition of Sarna religious code

Earlier, Soren had on May 25 written to President Droupadi Murmu to assist the state gain Central approval for its proposal to include the ‘Sarna Code’ as a distinct recognised religious category.

Doctors call off strike in Jharkhand after four held for thrashing medico

Kurmi community warns of rail blockade for ST status

“Our rail roko will continue until the Centre includes the Kurmi community in the ST list and our language Kurmali, in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, and a separate religion code for us. We appeal to railway passengers to bear with us since we have been left with no other option. We have been agitating for the past 73 years,” said AKS central secretary Jairam Mahato.

Drive begins in Dhanbad as dengue cases pile up

A health department team, led by district malaria consultant Ramesh Singh, visited Mallah Patti locality of Lodna area in Jharia on Monday and carried out water container surveys in different households to detect the larvae of Aedes aegypti, which causes dengue. Blood samples have also been collected from over 30 suspected dengue and malaria cases for further tests, officials said.
